Located in a high mountain valley, the Francis chapel presented a few site challenges. The site was on agricultural land adjacent to wetlands, irrigation canals and a nearby horse trail which all needed to be maintained. An access road was required and at the excavation for footings, the water table proved to be much higher than the soils report indicated. The parking lot and site were redesigned to accommodate ground water drainage. The landscape architect was able to blend the site with the beautiful valley and surrounding mountains.
